A better question might be ‘what is the cost of not having a security door’? We know the cost of a break-in goes far beyond the financial. It’s easy to replace most possessions, but far more difficult to get rid of that feeling when you know someone has invaded your personal space.

Let’s cut to the chase: you should expect to pay no less than $390 (including fitting and GST) for a diamond grille security door and $750 (including fitting and Gst) for Secureview woven 316 marine grade stainless steel mesh security door. We encourage buyers to be aware that a very low price might mean that the ‘security’ door has very few security features at all. By law, security doors must meetstringent Australian standards but some imported products disregard this. Always do your homework and verify the quality of the product you are purchasing.

The price of your security door will depend on several factors:

1. The level of security your door provides

As mentioned above a stainless steel mesh security door is more expensive compared to a diamond grille security door. It would go without saying that a 316 Marine grade stainless steel security door would be significantly stronger and offer a greater barrier to intruders than a diamond grille door. The diamond grille door will offer a reasonable barrier and additional protection for your home. They will have the same locking mechanism as the woven steel mesh doors whether it be a three-point locking system or just a single lock; both locks will be of equal quality and have the same identical operational procedures. Both locks will have an internal snip lock that does not require the keys to lock, both will be accessible from both sides with a key and both will have two keys provided with the door. The frame of a diamond door, however, is significantly lighter than the frame used for the woven stainless steel mesh security doors, therefore obviously will not be as strong. The 7 mm diamond grille is riveted to the outer frame.

Our SecureView woven 316 marine grade stainless steel mesh security doors are custom made from 316 marine grade stainless steel woven mesh and extruded aluminium frame using a patented fixing method. The mesh is chosen for its superb strength, durability and corrosion resistance, and is far superior to the 304 steel mesh on the market. SecureView security doors and screens are manufactured using a patented tensioning tool which enables our doors to be custom built for most large openings without mid rails. These security doors offer a wide range of features to meet & exceed Australian Standards AS5039-2008, with additional testing to ensure it continues to protect homes in cyclone, fire and corrosion prone areas.

Our unique two-part wedge system has been designed to create the precise pressure required to activate the VHB™ adhesive to its full potential. This VHB™ chemical bonding is proven to have the strength to replace rivets. Both wedges are made from UV stabilised PVC to yield superior durability over time. Unlike screw-clamp or riveted systems, all our doors use innovative technology that provides clear spacing between the security screen infill and aluminium frame. This eliminates the opportunity for galvanic corrosion, which occurs when dissimilar metals contact.

Our security screen mesh is free from mechanical fixings such as old-fashioned screws and rivets. Instead they employ VHB high performance chemical bonding technology to create effortless strength. The acrylic chemistry of the VHB adhesive delivers exceptional durability while its viscoelasticity provides superior energy absorbing properties which helps to eliminate stress points.

The downside to the 7 mm diamond grille is that the mesh is quite open and will allow strong hands to grab the grille as opposed to the woven stainless steel mesh that is much tighter and restricts any type of finger or hand access, leaving much less leverage.

All of our doors at Gold Coast Security Screens and Shutters have passed the stringent Australian Standards testing for manufacture and installation. You can be assured that you are purchasing the best security door products available in Australia.

2. Size

The size of your door will have significant implications on the price.  A 750mm wide single hinged security door will cost less than a 1200mm wide hinged security door. French doors and double stacking sliding security screen doors will cost even more. The increased cost reflects the additional materials and labour necessary to manufacture and install the door. At Gold Coast Security Screens and Shutters our security screen doors are custom made to size. We don’t have standard sizes like Bunnings and try to force a security screen door to fit your door jamb.

3. Lock Type

In order to have the ultimate security for your Gold Coast house or office opt for triple lock, a 3-point locking system with top, middle, and bottom locks  to keep out unwanted intruders. In order for a door to be classified as a security door it must be fitted with a triple lock. To engage the three locks you only need to turn the key on the handle and all three lock tongues will lock into your door jamb. This makes it much more challenging for an intruder to pry your door open with a crow bar. We offer a premium security screen door lock that comes with 2 keys. If you have multiple doors, we can arrange to have all the keys the same for the locks on the security screen doors.  Our locks also come with a snib latch so you can lock your door from inside without using the key.

4. Volume of products installed

Keep in mind that if you are requiring more than just one security door or window security screen on your Gold Coast property then we are happy to offer you a volume discount on all your products. Another way for you to reduce the price is by combining with a family member or neighbour who also requires security screens and doors on their property. As the saying goes, “the more the merrier”… better for you and better for us!!

5. Colour

Our standard range of aluminium colours will accommodate most properties however if you require an unusual colour then we are happy to get your frames powder coated. This will incur an additional charge raising the price of your security door.

6. Removal of Existing Security Doors

Most companies will charge you a fee to remove your old existing security doors however Gold Coast Security Screens and Shutters will remove them and take them away for free. Some customers prefer to keep their old products and use them in their vegie garden or chook pens.

7. Location

Some companies will charge different prices based on your postcode and how far they have to travel. At Gold Coast Security Screens and Shutters we charge the same price for all areas. We travel to all Gold Coast Suburbs including Benowa, Bundall, Ashmore, Molendinar, Parkwood, Carrara, Nerang, Southport, Runnaway Bay, Paradise Point, Hope Island, Helensvale, Coomera, Pimpama, Ormeau, Pacific Pines, Maudsland, Oxenford, Gaven, Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach, Mermaid Waters, Robina, Varsity Lakes, Burleigh, Currumbin, Palm Beach,  Mudgeeraba
